Who are "Sort Of Sisters"?

Hello Covenettes, and welcome to our very first blog post! Some of you may be very familiar with us and our story. However, we imagine many of you are new here too.

Where it all started…

Sort Of Sisters has roots going back over a decade. In 2015, Sort Of Sisters co-founder Ashley started a small candle business with her mom called Le Fabuleux Geek Boutique. In 2024 her mother chose to retire, which led them to shutting down Le Fabuleux Geek Boutique. Soon after, Ashley and her little sister (sort of) Sammy, started to stream together on Twitch. After a year of streaming, they decided to pick back up the small business mantle. On August 1st 2023, Sort Of Sisters was born from the ashes of Le Fabuleux Geek Boutique.

What makes Sort Of Sisters LLC different?

We decided before launching our new business to be as eco-conscious as possible. Nothing is more important to us than the earth we call home. We’re not perfect and we’re always looking for more ways to be eco-conscious. You can expect to see more information on our choice to be eco-conscious, and how you can be too, in future blog posts. For now, read the paragraph below to see what we’ve done so far.

How we’ve made our candles eco-friendly and safe:

♥ Our fragrances are Phthalate Free and do not require a Prop 65 Warning.
♥ Our wax is 100% natural soy grown in the USA (this helps cut down on our carbon footprint)
♥ Our wicks are lead-free low smoke cotton wicks (to minimize soot).
♥ Our candles come in a recyclable/reusable glass jar with a metal lid.
♥ Every one (1) candle comes in a “USPS Priority Mail Envelope”, the candle itself is wrapped in a reusable foam sheet or a bubble-sheet (made from 40% recycled content and 20% post-consumer waste) then tucked inside a reusable cardboard box. Biodegradable packaging peanuts are then stuffed around the box with two marketing items made from post-consumer waste.

Hopes for the future…

When thinking about the future, we’ve always struggled with how far and big we should dream. Both Sammy and Ashley have dreams of publishing in the future; with Sammy focused on building a cook book and Ashley focused on poetry and fiction. We’d love to have a brick and mortar cafe one day, with a gift shop full of our art, handmade goods, and other items. A little place to host a small community, but that brick and mortar dream starts here. Our community starts here, in this online web of uncertainty, our goal is to reach out with our art in our hands in hopes that other human hands will reach back.
